Cheers to Herbert Allison and David Moffett for stepping up and answering the call to government service at this challenging time. Moffett brings his history in risk management and analysis and both Allison and Moffett have extensive experience in providing the leadership to help companies recover from accounting scandals. Just at a time when there have been questions about the government's ability to attract qualified public servants, Allison and Moffet prove that the business community is willing to step up, to serve and to bring best business practices to our federal government.
Jeers to Scott Bloch. We might very well have to retire the Jeers award with Mr. Bloch. He has abused the trust placed in him and his office on countless occasions. Of course, there is his most recent action: firing his most senior manager without explanation and this on the heels of the abrupt departure of other career officials who highlighted Mr. Bloch's mismanagement. Add to that, his insistence on directing employees to target investigations to advance his personal agenda, then directing outcomes of what should be independent reports, bypassing his government technology staff to allow a "Geeks on Call" technician access to the sensitive data on his secure government computer, then, deleting the data from his government computer in the middle of an official, government investigation of his actions. And finally, we learn from key OSC staffers that Mr. Bloch had engineered a modern day propaganda campaign in which he instructed other government employees, on government time, to post derogatory blogs about his targets and complimentary blogs about his own efforts. Doubtless, other facts will emerge when the Justice system wades through the large and growing set of Mr. Bloch's misdeeds.
